Let's See What Happens Here's an experiment you can do to see what happens when chemicals and waste products are put on the ground. You'll need the following stuff: A Pencil Some Soil     A Veggie Tie A Nylon Stocking An Eyedropper Some Water     Red or Blue Food Coloring A Ruler A Paper Cup Scissors     1. Measure a 6 inch by 6 inch peice of the stocking and cut out. 2. Wrap it around the pencil by placing the point of the pencil in the center and bring up all the sides of the nylon. Tie the ends together at the top of the pencil with the veggie tie. 3. Place the pencil in the cup and surround it with soil. 4. Untie the top of the nylon and remove the pencil leaving the nylon in place. This will create a "Well" 5. Pour Water onto the soil in the cup. 6. In a few minutes, water will appear in your Well. Check to see how clear it is by taking some out with the eyedropper. 7. Now place the water that you took out back on the soil. Add a few drops of food coloring. The food coloring will have the same effect on your well water as the chemicals and wastes have on the water of our planet when they are placed on the ground. 8.
